Possible to support LSCache for WordPress ?

  • #2
    Hello,

As LiteSpeedtech have announced support for LSCache to work with WordPress cache plugin I wonder if you will add this and support it?
The new OpenLiteSpeed (re)release is now capable of using the LiteSpeed Cache Plugin for WordPress. The LiteSpeed Cache Plugin for WordPress replaces any other caching solutions like WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, Hyper Cache, etc. and uses the OLS cache module to do the caching. Since the...

We have no plans to integrate it for Apache for a few reasons.
      1. Apache world has Varnish, which is quite good
      2. LSCache license might not be compatible for porting it to Apache
      3. If you like it so much, you should buy LiteSpeed webserver ... it is better solution anyway.

        Thanks for you reply Igor.
But LiteSpeed Cache Plugin for WordPress is free and available now with OLS, so this is not something you consider at all?
We have LiteSpeed server and are happy with them too

Open LiteSpeed is GPL 3, which is incompatible with Apache license. This is a reason we couldn use it when we developed mod_lsapi (we had to use clean room implementation -- and we used only lsapi which is BSD or PHP licensed
"Apache 2 software can therefore be included in GPLv3 projects, because the GPLv3 license accepts our software into GPLv3 works. However, GPLv3 software cannot be included in Apache projects. The licenses are incompatible in one direction only, and it is a result of ASFs licensing philosophy and the GPLv3 authors interpretation of copyright law."
So, no we cannot use it, even though it is open sourced.
We also don see the point using it. Varnish is great. Apache world had no substitute for lsapi, every other way to serve PHP was just not as good.
Caching on the other hand has quite a few alternatives - and they are quite good.
