  • Confirming some CPU settings.

    Hi,

    Just want to confirm.
    CPU=20%
    Core=2
    The above LVE can consume 20% of 2 cores for a total of 40% or 10% less then 1/2 core.

    CPU=37%
    Core=3
    The above LVE can consume 37% of 3 cores for a total of 111% or rounded off to a total of 1core +11%

    The above thoughts used the below as a guide of sorts:

    Correct yes?no?maybe?

    Thanks
    Frank

    Please, read that article again.
    It is 20% of all CPU capacity or 2 cores, which ever is smaller

    Or 37% of all CPU capacity or 3 cores -- which ever is smaller.

      This might be were my confusion lays.

      > If you have 8 cores available and you assign TWO cores to the LVE, the absolute most each core can consume is 25% (2cores x 100) / 8 (total cores) for each core.

      I would translate like this:
      CPU=25%
      Core=2

      The above LVE can consume 50% of 2 cores for a total of 50% or 1/2 core.

      My translation should have read:
      The above LVE can consume 25% of all cpu (in this case 25% of 8 cores) or 2 total cores whatever is smaller.

      If the above is correct. Then I believe i got it!!!

      Thanks for answering all of our questions about the usage settings.

        This is correct.

          Due to set-up of server.

          If I say this:
          CPU=12.5%
          Core=2

          The above LVE can consume 12.5% of all cpu (in this case 12.5% of 8 cores) or 2 total cores whatever is smaller. With that in thought the LVE could never reach 2Core because it would hit the CPU% limit first. Therefore we could also look at it as allowing the LVE to use a total of 1 Core.

          Is that logic correct?
