  • XFS filesystem + R1Soft Backup version 5.14.3

    Failed to ready /home/username/ folder

  • #2
    Hello,

We have upgraded our SBM server (r1soft backup server) to version 5.14.3 where they provide XFS file restore support.
Other customers with CentOS have no problem, but customers using Cloudlinux 7.2 have issues.

When we try to browse customers folders /home/username/ its working fine, but once we try to access /home/username/public_html/ or /home/username/etc/ folder we get error in R1Soft:
icount and i8count are not consistent

When trying to access /var/named/ folder its working fine in the backup server.
So I guess the issue is with CageFS somewhere or a kernel bug.

Does anyone else have the same issue?

We have 3 brand new servers with XFS (Cloudlinux 7.2) and all got the same issue.
We have also reported this to R1Soft and their developers are checking this.

I worry we never tried this in our labs... Suppose I am not familiar with R1soft enough, but could you clarify what you mean with "When we try to browse customers folders" ? How do you do this?

And the error message is pretty strange - found nothing in google. Did you contact R1Soft support about this case?

You made me remember a blog post i read some years ago.

(I know, is not your question... just wanted to share it)

When we try to browse the customers folder either though their SBM or via cPanel they get this message:

Yes, contacted their support and their developers are working on this.
But I guess this is related to CageFS since other folders except /home/username/folders* are working fine.

I have read that blog post before NotLim and we had our issues with R1Soft, but the only other solution out there is Bacula4.com. But they are to expensive

But you are browsing public_html in
ecovery image right? If so cagefs should not cause any issues on it. I am trying to understand how it works...

Well, we can browse folders under /home/username/ because of cagefs. As end-user in cPanel and directly on the backup server as administrator.
All other folders on the servers seems to work fine.

Restore of MySQL also works fine, but that is using folder /var/lib/mysql/

You can see a guide on the process here:
