  • cPanel fresh install - lsapi vs ruid2, EA-php vs ALT-php

    Hey,

Im setting up a fresh cPanel server with CloudLinux. Please note that I only need PHP 5.6 and PHP 7+, so no legacy PHP versions are required.

    Here are some preliminary questions:

    1. In a CageFS environment, how does mod_lsapi compare with mod_ruid2, performace/speed wise? Im tending to stick with "default cPanel stuff", but if mod_lsapi brings tangible results Ill gladly use it.

    2. If I want to use mod_lsapi, do I need to install and use alt-PHP?

    3. Ive installed alt-PHP and now I have a ton of duplicate PHP versions. Supposing that I want to stick only with ALT-php, how can I (should I?) remove EA-php?

Long story short: I want to use the benefits of CloudLinux (mostly CageFS and hardware limits) but I really dont know if for "modern" cPanel setups I should go with cPanel default stuff (ruid + fpm) or add mod_lsapi & alt-php as well.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    1. We havent performed any test, but mod_lsapi is much more secure than mod_ruid2, and it supports all CloudLinux features. Please refer to this doc section: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.ht...ty_matrix.html

    2. No, mod_lsapi works with EA-PHP as well.

    3. PHP Selector integration with MultiPHP Manager is fully described here: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.ht...or_cpanel.html

You can disable MultiPHP Manager in "features" menu, and leave only PHP Selector enabled, but we do not have any strict recommendation, as CageFS and mod_lsapi are working with EA-PHP as well.
