  • What to expect from Cloudlinux 8 ?

Just because I am curious and nothing else,
CL 5, 6 and 7 were based on a heavily openvz modified kernel if I am not mistaken.

But now that RHEL 8 is out and Centos will follow in a month or two,
with all these changes CloudLinux 8 will use openvz or something else like
docker/podman, cgroups, kubernetes or anything else for LVE limits (CPU/RAM/IO/IOPS) ?

Native (RHEL) kernel with our kernel module will be used. We are trying to avoid making any changes to the kernel.
It should have standard CloudLinux limits.
ETA: End of Q3, though we might release a beta early in Q3

CageFS will not stop working. Limits will work, but you will not be able to change them from LVE Manager.

Hello Christos! Thank you for reaching out. We are working on this issue. We plan to release it in 4Q.
At the moment, it is possible to migrate from 7 to 7 hybrid, which has the fourth core from 8 (https://www.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinu...th-4-18-kernel). If you have any other questions, feel free to ask here. Thank you for contacting us.

Is there any beta release, we can try first? Thanks!

If we deploy servers with Centos 8 and a panel lets say DirectAdmin for example.
When CL 8 is ready, there will be a cldeploy / convert script like 7.x ?

Hello Christos! Thank you for reaching out! Yes, a similar cldeploy will be used to convert from CentOS to CLOS8. We are considering the possibility of a direct update from CL7 to CL8, but this is still at the research stage. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask here. Thank you for contacting us.

Sorry to ask/post again, are there any updates? Is it already released? Is there a beta to test or an ETA?

                        Thanks in advance,
                        Tobias
