AlmaLinux 8 - cPanel - CloudLinux 9 how to and in which order?

Hi,
we are preparing a new web server for a shared hosting and need some advise in which order to install OS and cPanel. Our data center supports only AlmaLinux 8.
Should we go with the AlmaLinux 8 then upgrade to AlmaLinux 9 if it's possible, or we can upgrade (convert) from AlmaLinux 8 to CloudLinux 9?

We would like to have CloudLinux 9 and cPanel.

In what order we should do this? AlmaLinux 8 -> cPanel -> CloudLinux 9 or AlmaLinux 8 -> CloudLinux 9 -> cPanel...?

If only AlmaLinux 8 is supported the recommended way will be to upgrade it to Alma 9 first using this guide: https://wiki.almalinux.org/elevate/E...ing-guide.html

And the order will be AlmaLinux 8 > Almalinux 9 > cPanel > CloudLinux 9

I'm in a similar situation. I'm looking for some more information on the relationship of AlmaLinux and CloudLinux. My hosting company says CloudLinux is not a stand-alone OS... is that true? I find that hard to believe since CL predates Alma. They say it's not possible to install CL without first installing Alma and then adding CL on top of that. I'm pretty sure I've installed stand-alone CloudLInux myself before. Is this something that has changed?

Well, it depends what hosting company it is. We do have the ISO images which could be downloaded to receive CL directly, you have just to ensure hosting company supports that: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/shared/c...ng-new-servers

Additionally there are a couple of Cloud Provider Images: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/shared/c...os-shared-only

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, why might they want to install Almalinux first then add CloudLinux? Seems like an unnecessary extra strep. Is there any major Pro/Cons of doing it that way?

It's wrong from customer perspective not to provide CloudLinux OS out of the box.
The only one idea is to simplify the infrastructure and operational processes if someone needs a free OS

It's not like adding CloudLinux on top of Alma, it is a full conversion Alma into CloudLinux. Absolutely no issues with it
