  • Restrictions on Munin

I have installed a new cPanel server on Cloudlinux. One issue I have encountered is with the Munin plugin which no longer has full access to the system.

For example, when I view the processes graph, it shows between 12-15 active processes - instead of the usual ~220 processes. It seems that Cloudlinux is restricting Munins access to collect this information. The same applies to the number of threads - and possibly other parts of Munin that I just have not encountered yet.

Is there some way of removing this limitation on Munin?

    Thanks,
    Tom

In case others run into the same issue: I asked cPanel support about the problem (since I bought the license from them). They pointed me to this part of the documentation: http://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.htm...ilesystem.html

Their suggestion was to add the gid of the munin user as the fs.proc_super_gid in /etc/sysctl.conf. After running sysctl -p, the munin process is now able to see all processes and threads on the system. (I also restarted munin-node, however Im not sure this was necessary).

The correct link is: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/index.ht...ilesystem.html (the previous one does not work for some reason)
