Physical Memory Usage - sFTP

Hello,

Why does the Physical Memory Usage go to 100% when customers are downloading files trough FTP?
I know it takes CPU, I/O etc, but I cannot see why memory usage should go up. Is files cached while they are downloaded?

Customers are worried that their site will go down while they take backup of their site trough FTP.
But my guess is that its just cached as this feature is really wanted:
