ALT PHP + cpanel new MultiPHP in EA4

Whats happening with ALT PHP now that cpanel has its own multi version PHP tools in EasyApache 4 ?

alt-php with all its versions, hardenedPHP patches for old versions, and 100s of modules will work with cPanel MultiPHP

PHP Selector on the other hand might become deprecated, especially if cPanel will actively develop MultiPHP and it will have all the necessary features that our customers want.

So if multi-php is selected in EA4 it won conflict or duplicate the Alt-PHP versions ?

This sounds great. cPanel is currently missing the ability to select PHP modules and to securly edit php.ini settings allowing the admin user to define what can be edited and can .

We will only move to EA4 if these features are included. This does all sound hopefull as I like the presentation of EA4. It gives a more integrated feel than current PHP Selector due to the use of paper lanterns CSS.

PHP Selector should not be depricated until absolute stability is achieved with EA4 and Multi PHP

How close are you to getting this working ?
Is this likly to be in v56 ? (i presume its not working in v54 yet ?)

Cpanel will install EA4 by default on new installs. If Cloudlinux isn compatible yet, what will be the install procedure to install a new server ? It was install centos, install cPanel, convert to cloudlinux. Will we now have to install centos, install cPanel, convert back to EA3, convert to cloudlinux ? Or should we install Cloudlinux directly and install cPanel on Cloudlinux so that cPanel can detect it and not use EA4 ?

Really what is wrong why cPanel is currently missing the ability to select PHP modules?

                    Regards,

                      Hello,
cPanel on its own has never had the option to adjust PHP modules on websites.
To give your users such option, you should use PHP Selector that is provided by CloudLinux. Read more about it here: https://docs.cloudlinux.com/php_selector/
