  • Meltdown/Spectre patches - determine kernel type

In regards to updated for the Spectre / Meltdown issues, is there a way to know if you are running hybrid kernel or not?

This page https://www.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinu...kernel-updated in the comments refers to non-hybrid kernels to look here https://www.cloudlinux.com/cloudlinu...el-updated-1-5 which appears to not yet have a fix?

Most of our servers run KVM virtual machines. I am I am just curious, how you know whether to apply the hybrid kernel patches or if we have to wait for the mainline kernel to be fixed by Cloud Linux?

    Best regards,
    Eric

Hybrid kernels are easy to distinguish - they have "el6h" in their names (see uname -r output). As hybrid kernel is essentially a CL7 kernel, it usually gets its patches together with CL7 branch kernels. We encourage our customers to use hybrid kernels as they are more feature-rich.
