    How to safely restart /sbin/init

CLOUDLINUX 6.9 xen pv [***] v68.0.33 (enrolled on Kernelcare).

I run #needs-restarting and it reports:

    1 : /sbin/init

How do we safely restart this service or can we only do a full server restart please?

    Hello,

You can try to run # telinit u, or # init u, will restart init without affecting the rest of the system.

But could you please let us know, what exactly was done before youve got this suggestion? Was it the KernelCare update?

Hi there. My system is also showing init as requiring reboot. This happened overnight possibly during an automatic update on whm server.

I have tried init u and telinit u and service is still saying it requires restart.
