  • Check if kernel is up to date

Hello. Im seeing this patch in yum check-update on my server since 23rd October:

    kernel.x86_64 1:2.6.32-954.3.5.lve1.4.58.el6 cloudlinux-x86_64-server-6

However, kcare suggests the kernel is up to date:

    # kcarectl -i
    > kpatch-state: patch is applied
    > kpatch-for: Linux version 2.6.32-896.16.1.lve1.4.54.el6.x86_64

    > (Red Hat 4.4.7-18) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Wed May 2 07:43:19 EDT 2018

    # kcarectl --check The latest
    > patch is applied.

Any idea why it is showing in yum please?

    Hello,

KernelCare updates only security bugs/stability bugs in kernel. It doesnt change the whole kernel.
That is why yum shows available updates.

Thanks Vladimir, yum update gave me the latest.

So, presumably I dont need to restart the server?

      Thanks in advance.

Theres no need to restart the server when KernelCare is running and updating the running kernel.
