Centos 7.9 / Cpanel > Conversion to Cloudlinux OS with Cpanel

We're currently running Centos 7.9 with Cpanel.

This morning I come across a conversion guide to convert from Centos 7 to Cloudllinux with Cpanel: CloudLinux - Converting CentOS server with cPanel - CloudLinux

This is a live server with a live online store and ticket system. Would this conversion be as simple as the guide and video?

We will require both PHP 5.6 and PHP 7.3, I'm assuming these are supported in Cloudlinux OS with Cpanel?

We're currently using MYSQL 5.7.44, would this remain in place during the conversion or will be graded to MYSQL 8.0?

Just looking for advise if to try the conversion or not, thanks in advance.

It’s a bit tricky since CentOS 7 is EOL, and CloudLinux 7 has also been EOL for over a year now. But don’t worry, it’s covered by the ELS license if you choose to go that route.

That said, it should be just as simple as shown in the video!

PHP versions are supported, and MySQL is too, so no need to convert to MySQL 8.

However, for the long term, we highly recommend upgrading to CloudLinux 8 using ‘elevate’ or migrating to CloudLinux 9.
