  • Email from Cron Daemon "No appropriate panic"

I had this email from our server today shortly after restarting it:

    Subject: Cron <root@[hostname]> /usr/sbin/cloudlinux-collect-panic-info

No appropriate panic ( 2021-07-10-04:08:59 PM)

    Anything to be concerned about?

    Thanks.

CloudLinux is just checking to see if a kernel panic caused your system to reboot. If so, we want to know why quickly to resolve the issue. It is safe to ignore this if your system is in a good state. Its written in the kernel source code as a kernel panic from the early days.

If you would like to read more about this, Wikipedia has a good article on it - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kernel_panic

      Dear Eric,

This is all well and good, but how about you configure the cron to only mail when theres something interesting to mention, not just a message you can/should ignore.

We do not wish to receive unnecessary mails that we need to discard by hand or by implementing some filter or rule.

Please, consider changing the cron to only mail if there is some action to be taken...
