    as Cloudlinux is a derivative of RHEL how does this affect us ?

      This is only about the kernel (and we are based on openvz kernel, so for us it is no difference). It is not about obfuscation, but about not being able to split work into separate patches & pick and choose. For openvz team -- it is extra work, yet TBH: it is not such a big deal.
      OpenVZ kernel was always provided in that fashion, but it didn create issues for us.
      I don think it is a big deal for VZ team as well, as they tend to port ALL the changes (and those are easy to find just by running diff).

      It might be an issue for kernels that are not based for RHEL, yet that want to benefit from changes made by RHEL (like debian). For them -- it will be difficult to pick up just a single / small change.
      Yet, in the end it will all go to mainstream kernel anyway.
