    higher load ?

  • #2
i have two almost identical (they just diff with os) servers
    one is cpanel cl 6
    second one cl 5

the same hardware spec, env (cables etc etc), almost the same "load" when comparing io/cpu util itp.. and yet
    cl6 hit avg 15-20 , where cl5 hit 1,35~2
the second one also getting slower above 15...

also psacct on 6.x are broken ( showing some wierd stuf like 12312312321312321.12312 cpu re )

i checked 4 times the 6.0 no ddos, any other stuff i hotswap even whole hardware to be sure that isn`t any hwd issuse...
biesedes this one cl6 all other have higher loads
    all other 5.x have loads < 2

i will migrate one server on weekend to check it...
is it normal ? is 6.x not yet ready ?

CL6 counts load in a different way (will be fixed) then CL5
When one of the LVEs is limited on CPU, all processes waiting on CPU in that LVE are counted toward load.
So, if you have 100 processes in LVE overloading that LVE, your load can go as high as 100 on CL6

On CL5, all those processes in one LVE will be counted as 1.
You can also check idle cpu% -- you should see there should be plenty.

The difference is purely cosmetic/the way we count load averages. Nothing else is at play in here.
We will fix load averages issue in the next release.

And yes, psacct is broken in cL6 -- we are looking at it as well.
