  • How to use KVM image?

    Need help getting started

  • #2
    Hi

My ISP has recommended that we move our hosted sites to a CL+cPanel guest. Before that occurs I want to get some familiarity with the set-up so that I have some vague idea of whats happening when we migrate - new to CentOS/RH.

I downloaded the cPanel KVM image fr om the documentation sub-domain and have it running under virt-manager on my local. Needed to boot into single user mode to reset root password so that I could log in after a reboot, but I cannot get networking operational.

What are the steps I need to take to configure the guest to be able to test this lot on a trial basis? Is there documentation somewh ere obvious that I have missed?

      Thanks, networking sorted.

      `dmesg | grep eth` gave me:
      eth0: TL-8139c+ at ... IRQ 11
udev: renamed network interface eth0 to eth1

I cpd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 to ifcfg-eth1 and edited eth0 to eth1 in the new file.

`ifup eth1` brought networking to life - haven yet looked to see why eth0 was renamed.

Any pointers as to where I can find some info on what to do next - Im assuming I need to set trial keys for cPanel and CL?
