    Imunify360 Email and cPanel integration

    Hi,

We’re planning to enable Imunify Email on our cPanel servers and we have a few questions regarding how it integrates with existing cPanel email protections.

cPanel already provides the following outgoing mail protections:
    • Max hourly emails per domain
    • Monitor the number of unique recipients per hour to detect potential spammers
    • Number of unique recipients per hour to trigger potential spammer notifications
    • Maximum percentage of failed or deferred messages a domain may send per hour
    • Number of failed or deferred messages a domain may send before protections can be triggered

How does Imunify Email interact with these built-in cPanel limits?
If I leave Imunify Email with its default configuration (no limits set), does it respect the cPanel limits?
Also, what exactly happens when Imunify Email detects outgoing spam?
Does it block the user’s outgoing mail, and if so, how does it perform that block (e.g., Exim, account suspension, etc.)?

I’ve read the documentation (https://docs.imunify360.com/email/) but it’s not entirely clear on these points. Could you please clarify?

    Thanks!

      Hello,

Thank you for your interest in Imunify Email.

The cPanel limits work by counting the outgoing emails and applying the limits based on your current settings. By contrast, Imunify Email is a spam filter applied to Exim.

This means that every email is analyzed for spam patterns and if the email is classified as spam, it gets quarantined. It works similarly to Spamassassin, but Imunify Email
has a great integration with Imunify360, the ability to interact with quarantined email, a smart pattern detection adjustment which works every time you release an email
from quarantine to improve the algorithm and much more.

Last but not least, you can use the cPanel limits alongside Imunify Email, the only difference you will notice is that spam emails won't count, as these are intercepted and
quarantined by our software, so they do not get a delivery status from Exim.

↳ If clean → Normal cPanel delivery rules apply (hourly limits, throttles, etc.)
↳ If spam → Message rejected/quarantined; no delivery occurs.

When you enable Imunify Email within the server, a new tab is available within Imunify360 for its management.

I hope you find this information helpful.
