php selector: pages with custom php version load 3 times slower than native

Ive just installed php selector and it works fine, except 2 things:

    1. lve manager shows higher cpu and memory usage with custom php versions

    native: cpu 1-4%, memory 4-10M
custom php version: cpu 10-20%, memory 70-180M? (5.1-5.5)

    2. pages load 2-3 times slower when using custom php version

    native: ~120ms
custom: depending on version ~370-500ms (5.1-5.5)

simply switching between native and custom php versions(with select php version) gives significant performance downgrade

what can cause this and are there any solutions?

I can confirm the same behaviour. Currently if clients report any performance issue, the first thing we start doing to debug it is switching to native php version.

Please, contact the support if you see such issues, and we will check what might be going on.
Also, please make sure you are loading same version / same extensions when comparing speed.
